BUILDING STRONG MINDS, BODIES, CHARACTER, AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH CYCLING
The DeForest Mountain Bike Team is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and the Wisconsin Interscholastic Cycling League. Students in grades 6-12 who live within the DeForest Area School District are eligible to join our co-ed, no-cut teams.
Mountain biking is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country! We exist to support local student-athletes of all abilities with the opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge themselves through mountain biking. When student-athletes join our team, they are joining a community of riders who will support them as they enjoy being outdoors while riding bikes.
Season Schedule
Our season begins with practices and adventure rides in July and runs through the end of October. During the summer we focus on biking skills, team-building, and adventure riding. In September we continue to focus on these areas but riders can also choose to participate in races around the state. Race weekends are more than just a race. They are family-friendly events where riders and their families can gather to have fun, cheer, celebrate, and appreciate mountain biking. Riders and their families don't even need to race to enjoy these awesome weekends!
Everyone can pedal with us
There is no bench on our team. NICA is open to athletes of any ability and any gender identity. We never "cut" riders and we encourage our athletes to set goals that drive their own participation in races, adventure rides, and practice. We want mountain biking to be accessible, fun, and fulfilling to ALL athletes with an interest in the sport.

NICA offers multiple ways for athletes to engage in the sport. Learn more about GRiT (Girls Riding Together), Trail Team Corps, Adventure Ride Camps, and more at the NICA website.
